2nd Generation begins work with New Companies Founded

These include Lowder Realty, Colonial Insurance, Lowder New Homes, and Colonial Mortgage.

More Subsidiaries formed & Diversification Grows

Colonial Properties, Exchange Bank, and Colonial Broadcasting all formed in this decade.

1993
Colonial Properties Trust goes Public (NYSE: CLP)

This formed as a Diversified REIT focusing on Office, Retail, & Multifamily in the Sunbelt region.

1995 - 2000
Acquisitions, Dispositions, & Expansions

Colonial Homes was formed to expand into Florida. Colonial Mortgage was sold & the Insurance grew with two acquisitions.

2005
Colonial Homes is sold to Meritage Homes

The Florida operation was sold to a public homebuilder. Lowder New Homes sold & closed 356 homes. Colonial Company begins developing in the panhandle of Florida at Rosemary Beach.

2008
Colonial completes construction of two boutique condo projects in Charleston, SC.

2009 - present
Begins development of 400-acre New Urbanist community in Montgomery, AL

2015 - present
Colonial re-enters apartment development & Management

Focusing on boutique infill projects on existing vacant land inventory.

2023
Began Construction on our first Build-to-Rent Single Family Community
